Every ol’ second sunday of the month comes a magical time where enough racks and piles of vintage clothes and antique goodies to fulfill my wildest dreams can be found at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. I’ve been going to the Rose Bowl with my mom since my middle school years and since then I’ve acquired sum trinkets of wisdom on what to look for, how to prepare and most generally how TO “Rose Bowl Flea Market” that I shall share with you.
The pastas in Italy are divine, the macarons and brie of Paris are la creme de la creme, but Switzerland itself is the crown jewel. As I looked outside the window of the train, mountains and green pastures rolled into view and I knew we were confronting an adventure and experience unique and refreshing to the heat and pollution and craze of the cities we’d just lived in. Switzerland is so so magical and breathtaking and I am currently sitting by a window in my hotel sipping my cappuccino and writing as Serena reads her book and we await our homemade breakfast.
After the beauty of Cinque Terre the group headed on a train to Pisa to see the one and only leaning tower of Pisa and take a cliche photo leaning on the tower. We then headed to Florence, Italy and when we finally got to the hotel, Serena and I crashed on our beds and took a very long nap. We were SO happy to finally have reliable air conditioning and wifi. JUST KIDDING
OUR NEXT STOP WAS CINQUE TERRE, an area along the water separated into five pieces of land that are villages touched by the finger of God. I seriously cannot describe in words my love for Cinque Terre. But the train ride there was horrible.
It’s funny to think that even though I live in LA, I never really “go” to LA. Nobody from the valley really ever takes time out of their schedules to go Downtown or really anything much past Santa Monica unless they truly must. But ever since I started taking my California Literature and Landscape english class this semester, I’ve realized that I really haven’t been taking advantage of the awesome place I live, so my friend Hannah and I went to China town today to make up for it.
